It is important to point out that some DSLR cameras will show the Moon as a white blob in live view. If you see this problem, the first step is to adjust your shutter speed until you start seeing the features of the Moon. If adjusting the shutter speed does not do anything and you still see a white blob, it most likely means that your camera is boosting the exposure automatically.
